ANAMBRA WORKS MINISTRY CONDUCTS STAFF VERIFICATION TO ELIMINATE GHOST WORKERS, BOOST PRODUCTIVITY

The Anambra State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has conducted a staff verification exercise for its workforce at the Ministry’s conference hall, Awka.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, stated that under his administration, there would be no room for staff who collect salaries without reporting for duty.
According to the Commissioner, “This is essentially a staff audit. We need to ascertain those who are genuinely in the system and the functions they perform. It is a mechanism for energizing the system and improving productivity. Under Solution 2.0, we cannot afford to continue with business as usual. We require an energetic workforce that resumes and closes at the official hours. Through this enumeration, I will also know staff by name, interact with them, and understand their work schedules.”
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Martin Agbili, explained that the exercise was designed to update personnel records, eliminate ghost workers from the payroll, and remove cases of falsified employment letters.
The Director of Administration of the Ministry, Mrs. Stacia Emenike, disclosed that the verification exercise would be conducted routinely. She added that officers were directed to appear physically with their first appointment letter, confirmation of appointment, last promotion letter, and any valid means of identification.
The Ministry noted that the exercise aligns with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Solution 2.0 agenda, which emphasizes accountability, efficiency, and a results-driven public service.
