The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, is participating in the Inspector-General of Police’s Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri, Imo State, where strategies for effective security management during elections are being developed ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The three-day conference, holding from Sept. 21 to 23, is themed, “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections.” The Nigeria Police Force says the conference is aimed at strengthening operational preparedness, coordination and professionalism in securing electoral activities.

According to the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued on Sept. 21, the participation of the Commissioner of Police forms part of the command’s efforts to enhance its readiness for the security challenges associated with the forthcoming elections.

In keeping with the objectives of the conference, CP Oji Ama has also activated a sustained peace advocacy and sensitisation campaign across Anambra State as part of measures to promote peaceful political participation and discourage acts capable of undermining public order.
As part of the campaign, the command joined police personnel and other stakeholders in a Peace Advocacy Walk from Eke-Awka Roundabout, Awka, to commemorate the 2026 International Day of Peace. The exercise was used to promote peaceful coexistence, responsible citizenship, tolerance and non-violence among residents.

The Commissioner of Police said the command would, in the coming days, step up engagements with political stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, youths, civil society organisations and other relevant groups across the state. The engagements, according to the CP, will focus on discouraging violence, intimidation, hate speech, destruction of property and other activities capable of threatening public peace before, during and after the elections.
CP Oji Ama further assured residents that the Anambra State Police Command would remain professional and impartial in the discharge of its responsibilities, while protecting the rights and safety of citizens and enforcing the law against individuals involved in criminal conduct, regardless of their status or political affiliation.
The command urged all stakeholders to support peaceful political participation, respect the rule of law and work collectively towards creating an environment conducive to free, peaceful and credible electoral activities.
