The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has urged voters in Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA) to support All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates, Sir Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze and 15 other Councillors, with their votes on August 29, in the Chairmanship election.
He made this appeal during the APGA grand finale rally at the Anambra East LGA field on August 26.
The governor highlighted that Anambra State is an APGA state, which has seen major improvements across sectors such as free healthcare, free education, new road infrastructure, youth empowerment, and more, with plans for further progress.
He pointed to projects carried out by the Mayor, emphasising that he merits a second term to continue delivering development for the people of Anambra East.
“This rally is specifically for Anambra East LGA ahead of Saturday’s poll because other LGAs have no opposing candidates—APGA candidates are returning unopposed.”
He thanked residents for their strong support during his re-election. He urged them also to back the presidential candidate, House of Assembly, Senate and State House of Assembly Candidates when they are announced for the January General Election.
Governor Soludo assured the community that road construction to the airport will commence soon, along with other major developments in various sectors.
The APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, praised the governor’s visionary leadership, which has transformed the party and brought stability to the LGAs, calling on voters to support APGA candidates to ensure their victory.
The APGA State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, commended the governor’s efforts in fostering peace, stability, and progress. “We thank you for reigniting our party through developmental politics. During the Governor’s re-election, we won all wards in Anambra East LGA, and we expect to do the same this Saturday,” he stated.
Sir Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, Mayor of Anambra East LGA and APGA candidate, thanked Governor Soludo for his support, noting significant improvements in roads, healthcare, markets, peace, youth empowerment in agriculture, and more.
“Under your leadership, Mr Governor, Anambra East LGA is peaceful and developing. We have empowered over 100 youths in agriculture, positioning our LGA as a hub for yam seeds and other products.”
The rally featured a parade from various wards in Anambra East LGA. Attendees included notable figures such as Senator Stella Oduah; Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, Speaker of the State Assembly; Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe; Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke (SAN), Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Barr. Ngozi Iwouno, Head of Service; and Dr Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation.
