The member representing Idemili South Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Barr. Ebuka Igwe (Ugosinachi Idemili), has celebrated with the women of Akwuukwu during their 2026 August Women’s General Meeting.
The lawmaker, who attended the meeting at the Akwuukwu Women’s Town Hall, described women as important pillars of the family and society, commending the women for their unity, hard work and efforts to preserve cultural values and promote responsible child upbringing.
Addressing the gathering, Igwe, who is also the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting women and young people across Idemili South Constituency.
“I am proud to identify with Akwuukwu women today. You are the engine room of our homes. My office is committed to supporting you through empowerment programmes, skills acquisition and employment opportunities for women and youths. We will continue to work to ensure that the dividends of government reach the grassroots,” he said.

Igwe pledged to work with women’s groups and community leaders to attract development projects and initiatives that would improve the wellbeing and economic opportunities of families in Idemili South.
Responding, the President of the Akwuukwu Improvement Union (AIU) Women Wing, Mrs. Sussana Ezeh, thanked Igwe for attending the meeting and for his commitment to women and youth empowerment.
Ezeh expressed the women’s appreciation for his support, assuring him of their continued encouragement and prayers as he carries out his legislative responsibilities.
The 2026 August Women’s Meeting featured prayers for peace and progress in the community, discussions on family values and cultural displays.
