The Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA) has met with the newly constituted executives of the Tailoring/Garment Market Association to review progress on the Ogbunike/Nkwelle Garment Cluster, located in Oyi Local Government Area(LGA), and agree on steps towards completing the ongoing project.
The meeting, held at the ASBA Boardroom on Oct. 7, served as a familiarisation engagement with the new association executives, providing a platform to address outstanding issues affecting the permanent Garments and Tailoring Materials Market at the Ogbunike/Nkwelle site.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to intensify collaboration between ASBA and the association to facilitate completion of the shops still under construction, ensuring the cluster becomes fully operational for traders.
The project received ₦200 million in ASBA funding in 2025 to part finance the construction of 400 shops. It forms part of the agency’s intervention to provide organised business spaces, improve trading conditions and strengthen micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across Anambra State.
Discussions focused on the current level of work at the site, particularly the unfinished shops, with stakeholders considering practical measures to address outstanding works and move the project towards completion.
The association expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Government for its support through ASBA, reaffirming its commitment to working with the agency to ensure the successful completion and utilisation of the cluster.
The association’s delegation comprised its Chairman, Chief Okeke Nosike; Vice Chairman, Ogbachialu Arinze; Secretary, Ginikanwa Ene; Adviser, Mr Christopher O. Mmuo; and Board of Trustees member, Mr Cletus Obiadi.
Speaking at the close of the meeting, Obiadi thanked the state government and ASBA for their intervention and support for the tailoring and garment sector.
ASBA officials present included the Acting Managing Director, Barrister Nonso Emeka; Vivian Onwuzu; Head of Credit and Administration, Chinedu Okafor; Accountant, Anthony Obiayo; Head of Finance, Omumu Peace; and Head of Micro Credits.
