TRAFFIC DECONGESTION AUTHORITY MOVES TO DECONGEST ROADS IN IDEMILI

Idemili North, April, 2018 – The Traffic Decongestion Authority, Idemili North Local Government Area has embarked on raids to decongest roads occupied by traders.
The roads been decongested includes, New parts, New market and Nkpor main market express road respectively.
The Commander, Mr Gilbert Okoye who led the clearing of the roads said that traders on the road side at Nkpor main market use baskets and all manner of goods to block the roads thereby causing a huge traffic, hold ups.
“The authority will not allow or tolerate any road side business anymore to enable motorists to have a smooth ride,” Mr Okoye added.
He warned that any trader who failed to adhere to the directive would be severely punished.
The Public Relation Officer of the Decongestion Authority, Mr Chuma Udoezika, while speaking to newsmen said that most of the traders on the roads resist attempts to clear their goods from the roads.
As part of sensitization of the traders, the authority mounted a post sign indicating; No Street Trading and defaulters will pay a fine N5000.00.
