Amichi (Nnewi South
LGA) As part of government's continuing commitment toward providing adequate,
affordable and accessible healthcare to Ndi Anambra, Gov. Willie Obiano
inspected some public facilities under construction in Amichi.
The governor on June
10 visited the College of Nursing Sciences, to assess the facility and the
internal roads being bankrolled by government within the institution.
He also visited the
Diocesan Hospital under construction at Amichi, Nnewi-South LGA.
The Governor hailed
the contributions of the Church in community development and expressed delight
at efforts of the Amichi Diocese (Anglican Communion) for transforming a
community hospital into a modern health facility.
``I am impressed at
state of the facility that I have seen here. I must commend His Lordship, the
Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Rt Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor and Ndi Amichi for the
marvelous transformation that we have all witnessed.
Government will continue to provide support, wherever it can. The roads within
the facility have been asphalted by government but I have also instructed the
Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) to fix the roads leading to the
He praised the
students, pledging the provision of necessary assistance to aid the
accreditation of the College's School of Midwifery and School of Public Health.
The governor, then,
announced the donation of a bus to the College.
Gov. Obiano was
earlier received by the Bishop of Amichi Diocese Ikeakor and his wife, Dame
Nkem Ikeakor as well as staff and students of the college and hospital.
Governor, Bishop Ikeakor expressed satisfaction at the achievements of
government in the state, especially in security, health and education.
He lauded Gov. Obiano
for paying attention to the needs of the people and for fulfilling the promises
he made to the Diocesan hospital.
``I am pleased with
complementary effort of Gov. Obiano in providing assistance to the College of
Nursing Sciences, Diocesan Hospital, Amichi.
``We are witnesses to
asphalting of the internal roads in this facility by the state government, the
commitment of the Governor to the accreditation of the schools of midwifery and
public health and the overall progress of the College.
``It is my hope and
prayer that the school receives the accreditation of relevant authorities, so
that the students can graduate and practice without any impediment.’’
implored the Governor to assist the Diocese in fulfilling the requirements
needed for anticipated accreditation.
An APGA chieftain,
Chief Maja Umeh, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the governor for his
people-oriented projects in the state, especially in Amichi.
Chief Umeh, a former
Commissioner for Information and Culture praised the government support to the
College of Nursing Sciences, Diocesan Hospital, Amichi.
He also hailed other
projects executed by the Governor in the community which has positively touched
lives of the people.
Umeh, then, pledged
continued support of Ndi Amichi to the administration of Gov. Obiano. (MOI)
