Amawbia (Awka South LGA), Jan. 8, 2019 (MOI) The Auxiliary Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Awka, Rt. Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye says human lives must always be a shining example to others.

Bishop Okoye said this in a concelebrated Eucharistic celebration for late Mrs Elizabeth Ndibe at St. Matthew Catholic Church Amawbia, Awka South LGA.

The prelate described Mrs Ndibe as a virtuous woman, who left an indelible imprint on the sands of time.

``I have been looking for one single aspect of her life that resembled the life of Jesus Christ, but found out that the woman lying here had many virtues.

``She had that simplicity of life. She had that faith in Christ and dedicated too.

``Above all, she was a good mother and a good classroom teacher,’’ he said.

Bishop Okoye said that all the above mentioned qualities of late Madam Elizabeth Ndibe equated her with women of faith in the Bible that include Rebecca, Ruth and Deborah.

He stressed that Christianity for the deceased meant a call to reflect and radiate the sacrificial nature of Christ’s love for all.

The prelate noted that until her death, Mrs Ndibe touched lives of many people in several ways by giving succour to them.

``As a teacher, she was industrious and dedicated to her duty that through her efforts; some of her pupils then, who are now in exalted positions can boast passing through her.

``The woman lying here was a missionary, who contributed in no small measure to the development of Catholicism in Amawbia and St. Matthew Church in particular.’’

The bishop then, urged all to leave a legacy through which they could be remembered after their sojourn here on earth.

He, however, insisted that good virtues must be inculcated in the children by parents as the woman did.

In a vote of thanks, one of the children of the deceased and acting Permanent Secretary, Anambra Ministry of Health, Dr John Ndibe thanked all present at the occasion.

He prayed God to grant them journey mercies to their various destinations.

The funeral attracted dignitaries from all walks of life including the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and one-time female governor of the state, Mrs Virgy Etiaba. (MOI)
