Anambra West TC Chairman's wife distributes palliatives to women

Umueze-Anam (Anambra West LGA), July 1, 2020 (MOI) Wife of Transitional Committee Chairman, Anambra West Local Government Area (LGA), Mrs Joy Orji-Okafor has distributed palliatives to women in the area.
Items distributed include 40 bags of 5kg rice, a carton of hand sanitisers, cash and some quantities of face masks.
Handing over the materials to the women, Mrs Orji-Okafor said that the measure was to compliment efforts of the government in ameliorating the hash effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the women.
She said it was part of her own support to compliment the efforts of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano in helping women during this pandemic period.
``The gesture is to support the campaign by Mrs Obiano, aka Osodieme Global, which is geared toward curtailing the effects of the pandemic on women,’’ she said.
She enjoined the women to always observe all COVID-19 measures that include regular washing of hands with soap and water; regular and proper wearing of face masks as well as use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
``Wash your hands regularly, avoid hugging or shaking of hands with others, maintain social distancing and always travel with hand sanitisers.’’
On increase in cases of rape across the country, Mrs Orji-Okafor appealed to mothers to always be cautious on whereabouts of their children and whose company they kept.
All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Woman Leader and Coordinator, United Anambra Women Assembly (UAWA), Anambra West chapter, Mrs Ngozi Nwakasi described the pandemic as terrible.
She appealed to the government to continue putting up measures that will prevent the spread and formulate policies with stringent punishments for those that do not abide by them. (MOI)
