Anambra demolishes illegal structures at tollgate

Onitsha, Jan. 11, 2018 -- Anambra State Government recently demolished illegal structures allegedly used by criminals and prostitutes on the toll gate axis of the Onitsha/Enugu Expressway.
This in line with the state governments promises to make the state crime-free.
Following outcry from members of the public, Gov. Willie Obiano directed the physical planning board, made up of the army, police and other security services to rid the state of all illegal structures.
Some of illegal structures, it was alleged provide hiding places for criminals, as they promote anti-social activities across the state.
The illegal structures on both sides of the Enugu Onitsha expressway around the toll gate were alleged to be criminal hideouts.
It was also gathered that the place also harbour women of easy virtue and other miscreants, who engage in neferous activities.
According to the security adviser to the governor, Chief Chikodili Anare, the occupants of the area usually pollute the area with human wastes.
The General Manager, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Mrs Ngozi Atisele explained that the illegal buildings were demolished for security reasons.
She called on people residing in such areas in the state to relocate as government would no longer tolerate such structures.
