3 MILLION TREES TO BE PLANTED BY ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT

Awka, May 24, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State Government has concluded plans to plant 3 million trees in various parts of the state by June.
Commissioner for Environment, Mr Michael Okonkwo made this known while addressing Youth Service Corps members in Awka South Local Government (LGA) on May 23 at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Awka.
Mr Okonkwo urged no fewer than 70 Corps members under Environmental Sanitation and Protection Community Development Service (CDS) group to partner with the ministry to achieve the ‘Plant a tree’ project around the state.
The commissioner declared his interest to work with the members directing them never to give up on their tasks at sensitising the general public on the need to be environment-friendly.
He noted that Government plan to plant up to 3million trees across the state that would commence by the month of June.
The Schedule Officer, Environmental Sanitation and Protection CDS Group, Mr John Ukor on behalf of his team, assured the commissioner of their support toward actualising the project.
The President of the CDS Group, Mr Jonathan Eze thanked the commissioner for his hospitality.
He promised that his team would
continue to visit various markets, parks, schools, shops to help the clean and
sensitise the people, to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment. (MOI)
