‎IDEMILI SOUTH TRAINS 50 MASTER TRAINERS AHEAD OF 1,000 YOUTH, WOMEN SKILLS SCHEME

‎Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State has intensified preparations for the rollout of its 1,000 Youth and Women Skills Acquisition Scheme by training 50 master trainers.


‎The one-day workshop, held at the Idemili South Local Government Headquarters in Ojoto on July 10, brought together key stakeholders committed to advancing entrepreneurship, skills development, and economic empowerment across the council area.


‎Speaking at the workshop, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Hon. Tony Omata, said the state government is committed to raising the standard of skills acquisition programmes.


‎ He explained that all government-supported vocational training initiatives would henceforth be subjected to strict quality benchmarks to ensure beneficiaries acquire globally competitive skills.


‎In her address, the Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Amaka Obi, disclosed that the skills acquisition programme is being implemented across the seven communities that make up the local government.


‎She noted that with the completion of the current phase, more than 3,000 residents would have benefited from various skills development programmes under her administration, reaffirming the council’s commitment to empowering youths and women through sustainable livelihood opportunities.



‎Also speaking, the Deputy Leader of the Congress of Councillors, Hon. Valentine Mbadugha, commended the Mayor for prioritising inclusive development and youth empowerment.


‎He called on private sector investors and development partners to support the initiative, expressing confidence that Idemili South is strategically positioned to become a leading hub for entrepreneurship and logistics in West Africa.


‎The Lead Team of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Mr. Chike Egbuna, assured participants that the institute would provide continuous mentorship, business development support, and market linkages to enable trainees establish successful enterprises and create employment opportunities within their communities.


‎The newly certified master trainers are expected to undertake a final virtual assessment before being deployed to facilitate the implementation of the 1,000 Youth and Women Skills Acquisition Scheme across Idemili South.
