OPERATION UDO GA ACHI : RENOWNED INDUSTRIALIST COMMENDS GOVERNOR SOLUDO

By Felix Igboanugo  :

A renowned industrialist, Mr. Simeon Chukwunwike Nnakwe has praised the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukuwma Soludo for the conceptualisation and establishment of Operation Udo Ga-Achi and Agunechemba security outfit to tackle crimes in the state.

Mr. Nnakwe, who made the commendation recently while exchanging views with information officer at his country home Oroma Etiti Anam, said that the floating of the security outfits was a right step in the right direction.

According to him, the only thing that remains is to ensure that the facilities discharge their duties objectively. “I mean, if they are not politicized, or manipulated for selfish ends, Ndi Anambra will enjoy relative peace for a long time to come”.

He maintained that some people were afraid that selfish politicians might hijack and politicise the security outfits, alleging that politicians were only concerned about their own selfish interests.

The Industrialist called on South East Governors to embark on collaborative effort to ensure that their boarders are safe, saying that without such synergy their efforts would end up in futility.

Speaking further, Mr. Nnakwe challenged the youth in the state to see the surveillance of the state as everyone’s responsibility, saying that it was wrong to think that security was exclusive responsibility of the government.

According to him, the issue of security should not be left for governments alone, rather, it should be a collaborative effort between the government and the governed.

“I don’t know how some people reason some times, because government cannot be everywhere but with useful information, security men can do their job perfectly well. I think security has a lot to do with the grassroots.

“The youth of a particular community seem to know all the nooks and crannies of their area, they know all bushes and camps of those Kidnappers,” he said.

The Anambra West born Industrialist admonished the youth to shun illegal businesses and what he described as-get-rich-quick syndrome which he said was one of the things driving them into kidnapping and other criminal activities, regretting that such vices had killed morality and core values in the contemporary society.

He also advised parents to give their children proper upbringing at very tender age in order to enable them to navigate the peer pressure influence successfully.
