Keyplus Pharmacy has advised the public to exercise caution when using herbal remedies, warning that products labeled as “natural” may still pose health risks if not used properly.
In a public health advisory released on their Facebook page on July 11, the pharmacy noted that many people turn to herbal medicines believing they are entirely safe. However, it warned that misuse such as taking excessive doses, combining herbal remedies with prescription medications, or using unverified products can lead to serious health complications.
According to the advisory, potential risks associated with improper use of herbal medicines include liver damage, kidney problems and harmful interactions with prescribed drugs.
The pharmacy emphasized the importance of seeking professional medical advice before taking herbal supplements, particularly for individuals who are already receiving treatment for existing health conditions.
Keyplus Pharmacy encouraged consumers to obtain herbal products from reputable sources, follow recommended dosage instructions and consult qualified healthcare professionals whenever they have concerns about the safety or suitability of a product.
The advisory stressed that informed and careful use of herbal medicine is essential for protecting public health and preventing avoidable complications.
“Your safety is priceless. Be informed, be careful, and always consult a professional,” the advisory stated.
Health experts continue to emphasize that while some herbal products may offer benefits, they should be used responsibly and with appropriate professional guidance.
