HOS CHARGES PUBLIC OFFICERS TO UPHOLD INTEGRITY, PROFESSIONALISM FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE DELIVERY

The Head of Service, Anambra State, Barr. Ngozi Anuli Iwouno has charged Planning Officers and Accountants to spearhead efforts toward transparency, accountability, and sustainable development within the state’s public service.
Addressing participants today at the ongoing Human Resources Development Week at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka, the HOS described the training as timely and strategic, given the critical role of the two cadres in government operations.
“Government programmes succeed on the basis of sound planning, prudent resource allocation, fiscal discipline, and evidence-based decision-making,” Iwouno stated. “Planning Officers are strategic drivers who ensure alignment of programmes with policy objectives. Accountants, as custodians of public funds, must uphold professionalism to sustain public trust.”
She further observed that the rapidly evolving governance landscape now requires data-driven planning, performance management, digital transformation, and results-oriented service delivery. “Continuous professional development is no longer optional; it is imperative,” she emphasized.
The Head of Service noted that the training was designed to enhance participants’ technical competence in areas central to their mandates. She urged them to participate actively in lectures, discussions, and practical sessions. “The knowledge you acquire here will enhance your effectiveness and improve service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies”.
Barr. Iwouno also reminded attendees that technical proficiency must be complemented by ethical values. “Competence must be matched with integrity, discipline, accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence. These constitute the bedrock of a responsive Public Service that meets both government and citizen expectations.”
She reaffirmed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, and technology-driven Civil Service, and urged the officers to position themselves as agents of innovation, prudent resource management, and sustainable development.
The Head of Service commended resource persons, organizers, and participants for their commitment, expressing confidence that they would return to their duty posts better equipped and more dedicated to delivering an efficient, accountable, and high-performing Anambra Civil Service.
The Human Resources Development Week continues with additional professional sessions aimed at strengthening capacity and service delivery across the state.
