GOVERNOR SOLUDO HONOURS FALLEN  HEROES, PLEDGES STRONGER SECURITY MEASURES IN ANAMBRA

By Christian ABURIME  :

Governor of Anambra. Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, today paid a glowing tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. He lauded their sacrifices for freedom and pledged unwavering support for security forces in Anambra.

Governor Soludo also praised the Nigerian Armed Forces and local vigilantes for combating terrorism and restoring peace in troubled areas like Orumba South and North. He condemned the criminal activities that led to the deaths of many security personnel and called for collective action against crime.

Announcing the launch of Operation Udo Ga Achi (Peace Will Reign) and putting in place stringent Homeland Laws to prosecute criminals effectively, Soludo emphasized the need for intelligence-sharing to tackle organized crime. He decried that kidnapping for ransom has become a lucrative business that must be tackled headlong

To the military and other paramilitary agencies, Governor Soludo reiterated that “Anambra is grateful, appreciative, and will not forget,” while also pledging continued support for the security forces.

The event featured a parade, wreath-laying, and dove release, symbolizing peace. The Governor further urged citizens to make security a shared responsibility, adding, “The safety of lives and property is everyone’s duty.”

The occasion was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon  Somtochukwu Udeze,  members of the Judiciary, Service Commanders, traditional rulers, Veterans among others

THE MISINFORMATION ABOUT GOVERNOR SOLUDO’S STANCE ON NNAMDI KANU’S RELEASE: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Press Statement

As we welcome the new year, it has become imperative to address the misinformation circulating in the media space regarding Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s alleged reluctance to support the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). This misinformation has been peddled by desperate opposition politicians who are intimidated by Soludo’s impressive achievements in office. In less than three (3) years, he has surpassed his campaign promises, leaving his critics scrambling to discredit him.

Contrary to the false claims, Governor Soludo has been actively working towards Nnamdi Kanu’s release, as he hopes that Nnamdi Kanu’s release will help restore peace and stability in the South East. He has demonstrated his commitment to this cause through his actions and public statements. Notably, Governor Soludo visited Nnamdi Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility, where he offered to take Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on administrative bail and assured of his availability whenever needed. This gesture underscores Soludo’s willingness to facilitate Kanu’s release and his commitment to finding a peaceful resolution to the issues surrounding Kanu’s detention.

However, Governor Soludo is also deeply concerned about the hijacking of the Biafra agitation by criminals. These individuals have turned the agitation into a lucrative enterprise, engaging in kidnapping, robbery, ritual killings, and other heinous crimes for ransom. This development has not only undermined the legitimacy of the Biafra agitation but has also posed a significant threat to the security and stability of the South East region.

The hijack of the Biafra agitation by criminals has had severe consequences for the people of the South East. The region has witnessed a surge in violent crimes, including kidnapping, robbery, and ritual killings. These crimes have not only claimed lives but have also caused widespread fear and insecurity among the population. Furthermore, the hijack has undermined the economic development of the region, as investors are reluctant to invest in an environment characterised by violence and insecurity.

To address the security concerns in the South East and particularly Anambra, Governor Soludo’s administration is set to launch “Operation Udo Ga-Achi” (Operation Peace Shall Reign) this January. This comprehensive security initiative will integrate advanced surveillance technology, deploy branded vehicles for stop-and-search activities, and train forest guards to work with vigilantes and local authorities. Operation Udo Ga-Achi is designed to restore peace and stability in the Southeast, and Governor Soludo is committed to ensuring its success.

The key components of Operation Udo Ga-Achi include:

– Advanced Surveillance Technology: The operation will utilise advanced surveillance technology, including drones and CCTV cameras, to monitor and track criminal activities.

– Branded Vehicles: Branded vehicles will be deployed for stop-and-search activities, ensuring that criminals are apprehended and brought to justice.

– Forest Guards: Forest guards will be trained to work with vigilantes and local authorities, ensuring that criminal activities are prevented and responded to effectively.

– Community Engagement: The operation will engage with local communities, ensuring that they are aware of the security initiatives and are empowered to report suspicious activities.

– Collaboration with Security Agencies: Operation Udo Ga-Achi will collaborate with security agencies, including the police and the military, to ensure that criminal activities are addressed effectively.

In conclusion, Governor Soludo’s commitment to Nnamdi Kanu’s release and his efforts to restore peace in the South East are genuine. Soludo’s fear that the criminal elements who have turned Biafra agitation into a criminal enterprise may not listen to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a legitimate concern that is shared by well-meaning people.

May I also add that Governor Soludo’s concern for Kanu’s release did not start with the latter’s present predicament. Soludo was the first to lead some Igbo leaders to visit Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje prison in 2017 and thereafter addressed a world press conference in Abuja to call for his unconditional release.

The misinformation peddled by desperate opposition politicians and other shadow figures is therefore baseless and politically motivated, intended to discredit Soludo’s administration. It is essential to look beyond the propaganda and recognise the progress being made and the need for all to cooperate with the government to deal decisively with insecurity in the state. By working together, we can overcome our region’s challenges and build a safer, more prosperous future for all.

GOVERNOR SOLUDO: A LEADER WHOSE HEART BEATS WITH THE RHYTHM OF COMPASSION

By Christian ABURIME  :

On the bustling streets of Awka in Anambra State, a poignant image flickered to life lately. It was that of a forgotten tennis champion, Tanya Okpala, adrift in the throes of despair.

The viral video, capturing her struggles on the city’s margins, resonated deeply, etching a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that can ambush even the most celebrated in society. Yet, from the obscurity of neglect, a beacon of hope has emerged – Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, a leader whose heart beats with the rhythm of compassion, extending a helping hand to lift the fallen champion.

Okpala’s story, once crafted with threads of sporting glory for Nigeria and the sting of societal neglect, resonated across the social media. A biracial athlete with a Belarusian mother and Anambra-native father, her triumphs on the tennis court had once emblazoned Nigeria’s name on the international stage in the 1990s.

Now, the cruel twist of fate saw her wandering the streets, her spirit shadowed by whispers of abandonment and the sting of prejudice. But Governor Soludo, once his attention was drawn to the trending video, refused to be a bystander to this unfolding tragedy. In a swift and decisive move, he took Okpala under the protective wing of the Anambra State government through the Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, pledging total support for her rehabilitation and reunion with her loved ones.

This was not merely a political gesture; it was the embodiment of genuine concern, a leader stepping up to his social responsibility. Equally commendable was the swift action of the First Lady Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the governor’s wife. Reaching out with the empathetic touch of a fellow woman, she assured Okpala of the government’s commitment to her recovery and reintegration. Her promise to extend support through her NGO, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo,” underscored the holistic approach envisioned – addressing not just physical well-being but also the intangible wounds of mental health.

Governor Soludo’s responsive actions transcend the realm of mere governance. They illuminate the profound impact a leader’s empathy can have on the lives of the vulnerable. His story resonates with a universal truth – that compassion is not a political tool, but a human imperative. In reaching out to Okpala, he has not only offered solace to a fallen champion but also restored faith in the power of humanity to heal and uplift.

This act of compassion stands as a further demonstration of Governor Soludo’s leadership across board in Anambra. He is touching lives for good in every stratum of the state. It is a leadership that recognizes the fragility of human lives and the sacred duty to extend a helping hand to those who stumble.

It is a leadership that inspires hope, reminding us that even in the darkest corners, the flicker of kindness can illuminate the path to a brighter tomorrow. As Okpala is being given quality medical and welfare attention by the Anambra State government, surely, her journey towards recovery has taken off. Yes, with the assured support of Governor Soludo and his wife, a new chapter beckons – one etched with the promise of healing, reconnection, and a second chance at a fulfilling life.

This story is not just about a fallen champion; it is a tribute to the transformative power of empathy in the hands of a compassionate leader. It is a story that deserves to be etched in our collective memory, a beacon of hope reminding us that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit, when nurtured with compassion, can soar once again!

Concluding, it’s imperative to commend the patriotic role played by Ambassador Mary Onyali, MFR, Nigerian famous sprinter and some of her equally patriotic friends and colleagues who brought Tanya’s issues to the public glare. It was an awesome art of selflessness and patriotism that paid off handsomely!
