ARTMA INTENSIFIES SEARCH FOR TIPPER DRIVER OVER DANGEROUS TRAFFIC VIOLATION

The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency has stepped up efforts to identify and apprehend a tipper truck driver caught driving against traffic and crossing a drainage channel along the Building Materials–Nkpor Flyover axis on July 9.
In a statement issued to the public through their Facebook page, the agency described the driver’s actions as reckless, unlawful and a serious threat to road safety and public infrastructure.
According to ARTMA, officers on routine patrol observed the tipper truck moving against the flow of traffic and using the drainage channel to access the opposite carriageway.
The agency noted that the incident highlights growing concerns over the conduct of some tipper truck drivers, who have been accused of violating traffic regulations by crossing medians and drainage channels.
ARTMA warned that such actions endanger other road users and damage public infrastructure funded by taxpayers.
“ARTMA will no longer tolerate these reckless acts. Offenders will be tracked, arrested and prosecuted until strict compliance with traffic regulations is achieved,” the statement read.
The agency said it is deploying intelligence and database resources to identify the driver and vehicle involved in the incident.
ARTMA appealed to members of the public with useful information to contact the agency on 08144228836, adding that a reward would be offered to anyone whose information leads to a successful arrest.
Reiterating its commitment to safer roads, ARTMA urged all motorists, especially operators of heavy-duty vehicles, to obey traffic laws and avoid actions that could endanger lives or damage public property.
