ANAMBRA EAST TO STAGE BIGGER CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION IN 2027 — MAYOR CHINWEZE

The Mayor of Anambra East Local Government Area(LGA), Hon. Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to child development, promising that the 2027 Children’s Day celebration in the LGA will be bigger and better.

Chinweze made the pledge during the 2026 Children’s Day celebration held at the Otuocha Township Stadium, where children from different schools and communities gathered to commemorate the occasion.

Speaking at the event, the Mayor said this year’s celebration, themed “Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child, Child Welfare and Healthy Living,” was celebrated in grand style across the Local Government Area area, urging residents to embrace the “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo” initiative as a way of promoting physical fitness and overall well-being.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Mayor on Environment and President of the Anglican Children’s Ministry (ACM), Province of the Niger, Ven. Emmanuel Ik Onovo commended Chinweze for his love and support for children.

He described children as the future hope of society, appreciating the organizers for putting together a successful and well-coordinated event.

The celebration attracted top government officials, traditional rulers and community leaders including the Deputy Mayor, Dr. Lady Martina Nwawube, The Secretary of Anambra East Local Government, Hon. Obiefuna, His Royal Majesty Igwe Ekwealor of Umuoba Anam and His Royal Majesty Igwe Lawrence Nwafia of Eziagulu Otu.

In his remarks, Igwe Ekwealor praised the Mayor for his developmental strides in Anambra East, encouraging him to sustain the pace of development and also appealed to residents to support Chinweze in the forthcoming chairmanship election.

Highlights of the event included march-past displays, games, and cultural dance performances by the children.

Speaking on behalf of parents and teachers in the area, Mrs. Oraefo Ginika commended the Mayor for prioritizing the welfare of children and setting a new standard for Children’s Day celebrations in Anambra East.
