ANAMBRA CP COMMISSIONS PATROL VEHICLE DONATED BY 3-3 COMMUNITY, WARNS SPACS

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP, Nnaghe Obono Itam has commissioned a patrol vehicle donated to 3-3 police division by the 3-3 community, near Onitsha, to assist in curtailing the spate of insecurity in the area. Represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations Department, ACP James Ihiebe, the CP commended the chairman of Works Committee, All Estates within 3-3 police division, Jonathan U. Egonu (Esq) his executive members and residents for donation of the vehicle, assuring that it will yield dividends.

He condemned allegations of assault on residents by the police Special Anti Cultism Squad (SPACS). The squad has been accused of terrorizing residents through illegal operations, including breaking and entering homes without notice. The CP warned that any SPACS member caught engaging in such behavior would face consequences, emphasizing that police officers should not behave like criminals.

Earlier in his address, the chairman, Egonu, disclosed that the idea for procurement of the vehicle was initiated by the combined efforts of the estates under the said police Division and attributed it to what unity and a shared vision can achieve. He emphasised that the vehicle will undoubtedly enhance the operational capacity of this division, enabling quicker and rapid response times and better service delivery. 

The Onowu of Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Chief Willie Okafor, had while breaking the cola nut, commended the people for procuring the vehicle adding that it is aimed at curbing the increased crime wave in the area. He expressed satisfaction with the role played by the police in the state and reiterated the resolve of the people con the area to assist the police in crime reduction.

In their speeches, Chief Okonkwo E. Angus, Chairman Federal Housing Estate,  Chinazor Ezeayom, Chairman, Valley View Estate and Chief Echidime Ihejimba, Chairman Upper Hill view Estate disclosed that the purpose of the vehicle donation was for security and to assist police in combating crime, emphasising disclosing that crime wave is in the increase in the area.

IGWE IWEKA EXPRESSES SUPPORT FOR OBISEP, AS TRAINEES/APPRENTICES GRADUATE FROM SCHEME

The traditional ruler of Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra, Igwe Chidubem Iweka(Eze Iweka III), has expressed his total support for the Obosi Innovative Skills and Empowerment Programme(OBISEP). 

Igwe Iweka, who was represented by Chief Chuma Magom(Ojuma Obosi), made the comment during the graduation ceremony of the people, who were trained on various skills and vocations under the OBISEP scheme. 

“I am advising you to take your training seriously, as it will empower you to become self-employed and earn honest livelihoods, and I am assuring you of my continued and total support for OBISEP,” Igwe Iweka said. 

The Obosi Innovative Skills, and Empowerment Programme(OBISEP) is a derivative and adaptation of Gov. Soludo’s I youth 2 skills programme in Anambra State. 

The Obosi Development Union(ODU) Committee on Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliative mooted the idea of OBISEP and implemented it to equip unemployed youths with skills in order for them to become self-employed, thereby reducing the perpetration of crimes in the town. 

The first batch of graduates of the OBISEP scheme were trained in diverse areas such as fashion designing, catering, fish farming, snail farming, cctv installations, cosmetology, bakery, tying of scarves, others. 

During the graduation ceremony, the Chairman of the event, Gen. Nnaemeka Maduegbuna, who was represented by Engr. Chinedu Iweka, thanked God for the  successful completion of the OBISEP pilot scheme. 

Maduegbuna, who made a cash donation of N300,000 for the sustenance of the OBISEP scheme, urged indigent and unemployed people in Obosi to utilize the opportunity offered by OBISEP to acquire life-changing skills. 

In his own remarks, the Obosi Development Union President General, Barr. Chimezie Obi, said that OBISEP is a domestication of Gov. Soludo’s I Youth 2 Skills Programme, and that it is kept in motion through the voluntary donations made by kind-hearted and well-heeled indigenes of Obosi. 

He further said that the graduates of the OBISEP pilot scheme received tutelage on 31 skills and vocational areas. 

Barr. Obi, then, called on public-spirited people to support the OBISEP scheme so as to guarantee its continued existence. 

The chairman of the Obosi Development Union Committee on Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliative as well as the chief driver of OBISEP, Nze Chisom Onugha, said that the graduands would move to the next level of training, promising that they would be registered with CAC. 

And as the event wore on, and started grinding to its denouement, Barr. Emeka Uyamadu made a cash donation of N300,000 for the sustenance of the scheme while Ojudo Obosi gave OBISEP N200,000. 

Other important dignitaries who attended the event were Mr. Pat Agha Mba, the Anambra Commissioner for Youth Development; Amala Egbuonye, Obosi Development Union Secretary General; Mrs Highman Udemba; Engr(Mrs.) Chito Onuzulike, MD of SMEDAN in Anambra State; and Nze Shedrack Okenwa, Palace Secretary of the Obosi ancient kingdom.

AGHA MBA ASSURES OBISEP TRAINERS OF RECRUITMENT INTO ANAMBRA 1YOUTH 2SKILLS PROGRAMMME

Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, the Anambra State Commissioner For Youth Development, has assured the Obosi Innovative Skills and Empowerment(OBISEP) trainers that he would draft them into the Anambra State I Youth 2 Skills programme. 

Agha Mba made the promise after doing the rounds at the trainers’ stands at Obosi town hall during the graduation ceremony of the OBISEP apprentices and trainees. 

Overwhelmed with joy and impressed by the splendid and qualitative exhibitions by the trainers, he extemporaneously inducted himself into the Obosi Development Union Committee on Skills Acquisition, Empowerment and Palliatives so as to guarantee the continued existence and sustainability of the OBISEP scheme. 

More so, Aghamba, who is a native of Onitsha, dismissed the insinuation that Obosi and Onitsha are at enmity, saying that Obosi is his second home, as Onitsha people and Umu-Ezechime people of Obosi share consanguineous ties. 

He described OBISEP, which is tagged Obosi I household 2 Skills project, as a great initiative, urging town leaders in other towns to toe the line of Obosi people. 

“This is a great initiative; Obosi is doing the right thing at the right time.”

He thanked Igwe Chidubem Iweka(Eze Iweka III) and Obosi Development Union(ODU) for joining hands to provide better life and future for our youths.

ONITSHA NORTH MAYOR VOWS TO ENSURE TIGHT SECURITY DURING CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

The Chairman of Onitsha North LGA, Mr. Tony Nwora has vowed to ensure free crime in Onitsha and environs during the yuletide season. Nwora said this during a meeting with security chiefs in his office at Onitsha North Local Government Area.

He said his mission is to allign with Governor Soludo’s vision of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous homeland. He emphasised that he will make sure that Onitsha residents are well protected in this Christmas season by collaborating with security agencies to maintain peace, crime free and security during the season.

Mr. Tagbo Emodi, the council secretary thanked the Mayor for his mission, urging the security chiefs to work closely with the mayor in order to achieve peace in the area .

In attendance, were the Obi in council chiefs,  representative from the Army, Police, DSS;  Civil defense and AVGS.

UDEZE CONGRATULATES MARK OKOYE ON APPOINTMENT AS MD/CEO OF SOUTHEAST DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has extended warm congratulations to Mark Okoye on his appointment as the Managing Director/CEO of the Southeast Development Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.  

In a heartfelt message, Speaker Udeze commended Mr. Okoye for his exceptional contributions to Anambra State and the Southeast region, noting his visible impact during his tenure at the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA). 

Highlighting Mr. Okoye’s memorable role during the Ogbaru Economic Summit, where his insights into the region’s potential and his commitment to development inspired many, he  described the appointment as a “well-deserved recognition. He expressed confidence in Mr. Okoye’s ability to bring transformative progress to the Southeast.

ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT PLEDGES TO SUPPORT AGRICULTURAL TRANSFORMATION AGENDA PROGRAM

Anambra State Government has given assurance that it would offer the needed support services to facilitate successful implementation of Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program (ATAPS) phase 1 projects.

The State Commissioner For Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor, gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from African Development Bank (AFDB), Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Federal Ministry of Finance as well as ATAPS who paid him a Courtesy Call.

The delegation had visited the Lower Anambra Irrigation Project, Pumping Station, at Ifite Ogwari, the ongoing concrete lining of long canal as well as completed access roads at Omor, where they interacted with beneficiaries in the areas.

Dr Ihejiofor assured the team of state government’s commitment to addressing identified challenges of power supply and counterpart funds, adding that a public private sector partnership arrangement was being worked out to tackle the issue of energy.

“If that place is put into use, it has very positive implications for our GDP and for of course the food security of the country.

“The challenge of running it, running the pumps, energy requirements clearly has to be backed up with solid arrangements where you have private sector participating very actively.

“We already have an understanding with a company that is in partnership between some Nigerians and Chinese who want to come in and do massive rice production and sesame production in that region.

“Hopefully they will be coming into the country to commence something in January 2025. So their involvement will to a large extent ensure that we have funds to run those pumps.”

According to him, the state government has also approached the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) for an investment of N100 billion land development in the area in furtherance to the PPP arrangement.

The Commissioner emphasized that  government is poised to drive significant progress to guarantee food security of the state.

In a remark, the Zonal Program Coordinator, ATAPS phase 1 Adani-Omor, Dr Romanus Egba, said that they considered it proper to brief the state government the outcome of their tour.

The National Program Coordinator, ATAPS 1, Dr Ibrahim Arabi and the African Development Bank Task Manager, Dr Tobi Kari Kari, discussed issues bothering on utilisation and sustainability of the projects with the Commissioner.

While expressing satisfaction with achievements recorded, they specifically called on the state government to provide payment of outstanding counterpart funding for the Projects and transformers to ensure power supply.

INDUSTRY COMMISSIONER GET NATIONAL PHILANTHROPIST AWARD FOR HUMANITARIAN SERVICE

Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu has been adorned with the National Philanthropist Award for Humanitarian Service.

The Award was sponsored by the Royal Ambassadors Family Enlightenment Foundation (RAFEF) in collaboration with Green Revolution Farmers Feed the Nation Foundation (GRFFNF).

The commissioner shortly after receiving the award at REFEF’s 2024 love feast held in Awka commended the organizers for their efforts and for coming together to discuss ways of impacting on the people.

He reiterated that the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for Anambra State was to create a smart mega city where everybody would have a preferred destination to live, learn, invest, work, relax and enjoy in.

“The role of feeding the nation mirrors what the governor recently launched and termed, “Farm to Feed”, which is the governor’s response to the quality of living and high prices of goods and services as a result of inflation.

“Even if the harvest from your backyard or farm land is to feed yourself only, you would have reduced the pressure on goods in the market. If we all work to feed ourselves then the nation would have been fed.”

The commissioner noted that the government has a deliberate and purposeful policy that was designed to liverage on agriculture to deliver zero poverty in the state.

“We are handing out millions of Palm oil seeds and over 2 million was given out this year through community structure to ensure it gets to the grassroots because it’s a hybrid variety which would start yielding seeds in about 2 to 4 years.

“We are also starting a major agricultural revolution that would restore the place of palm oil in the state as a wealth creating medium to escape and end the cycle of poverty in our society which is in line with Green Revolution and the Royal Ambassadors conviction.”

He noted that the government has programmes that support cooperatives through access to finance domiciled in it’s Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA) and the Ministry of Industry in collaboration with the bank of Industry.

The Director General, NAFEF and GRFFNF, HRM, Mr. Jonathan Okwudili commended the state government for its numerous programmes geared towards improving the lives of the people especially the youths and women.

“I am proud to lead an organization that has been at the forefront of promoting unity, leadership and community development in Nigeria.

“We have made significant strides at empowering women and youths farming projects for sustainability and food sufficiency.

“Today our kingdom boasts of impressive membership of over 700,000 citizens representing all six geo-political zones on the 774 LGA’s and 36 states in Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.”

In an address, the Executive Secretary of RAFEF, Mrs. Roseline Chinwe Mgbejiofor said that the Royal gathering of 2024 love feast was a moment to reflect on their journey, celebrate their achievements and envision a brighter future rooted in purpose, compassion and commitment to transforming lives.

She highlighted that RAFEF is a subsidiary of Royal Ambassadorial kingdom established under the visionary leadership of the DG, born out of the kingdom’s vision for transformation and nation building and that the organization has become a beacon of hope for countless individuals and communities across Nigeria.

“Our commitment to rural development and community-driven projects have significantly improved the quality of life in remote areas by focusing on education, skills and economic empowerment. We are building a legacy of resilience and self-reliance.”

The Royal father of the day, Igwe Emeka Ilouno, Igwe of Ifitedunu commended the commissioner for his word of encouragement and appealed to the organizers to be focused and determined as they partner to alleviate the plight of the people and ensure food sufficiency.

MAYOR SHOWERS SUCCOUR TO HANDICAP CHILDREN

Joy galore at Special Education Centre, Umuchu as Chairman Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, showers succour on handicap children, promising to come at internal to meeting with them.

“You are special in the eyes of God as such do not lose hope but keep trucking, God shall bring fulfilment to his reasons for creating you.”

He said this while handing over bags of rice, tubers of yam, cartons of noodles, cartons of biscuit, toiletries and envelope containing undisclosed amount of money.

The handover took place at the school premises, in Aguata LGA on December 8.

The Vicar, St Thomas Anglican Church, Umuchu, Venerable Chijioke Nwankwo received these items with gratitude.

He poured encomiums on the chairman for visiting the school, pleading with other affluents and men in authority to follow suit, emphasizing that government cannot do it all alone.

The cleric acknowledged that Gov. Chukwuma Soludo is doing the best he can to making the school truck on, yet needed other hands, praying God to replenish pockets and all virtues lost bringing succour to the school.

The school Administrative Secretary, Mrs Adaobi Makachi whose joy knew no bounds seeing these items, thanked the Chairman and those in his entourage who also gave personal envelopes containing money.

According to her, school fees are not paid in the school, even when it is public mission school.

“Logistics to running the school come from government, from time to time. In fact, Gov. Soludo’s education policies are exceptional, unprecedented. Our prayer is that God shall keep him safe and sound for us.”

Those in his entourage include Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA), Aguata LGA, Mr Vitalis Okoroakor, women leaders, ward chairmen, stakeholders and other party faithful.

The occasion featured special prayers from handicap children to the chairman and his entourage, Aguata LGA, State and Nigeria at large.

BUDGET DEFENSE: MCET ANTICIPATES SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN DEVELOPMENT OF HERITAGE SITES

The Commissioner for the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, has announced that the Ministry’s budget for 2025 will focus on developing major heritage sites to enhance tourism attractions. Key sites include Agulu Lake, Ogbunike Cave, Owerre-Ezukala Cave/Waterfall, Anam Beach, and the Awka City Park.

He made this statement during a press interview at the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex in Awka.

Mr. Onyenji said, “We expect to achieve even better results next year, significantly advancing our projects. We have partnered with a globally recognized consulting firm to provide us with a business case and recommendations for our tourism sites.”

According to him, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo is keen on creating a city park in Awka that features a green environment for picnics and other recreational activities. Once the business case is established, we will attract investors to partner with the state government through Public, Private, and Community Partnership (PPCP) for the development of these sites.

“These initiatives will not only increase the workload for the Ministry but will also generate more revenue for the state government and, most importantly, create job opportunities for the people. These achievements is aligned with the Governor’s vision of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous mega smart city, where visitors can relax, work, and enjoy themselves,” he emphasized.

ANAMBRA STATE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION ALERTS NDI ANAMBRA ON FAKE EMPLOYMENT EXERCISE

The Anambra State Civil Service Commission has refuted claims of a recruitment exercise by the Commission currently circulating in some media platforms. 

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Tony Ezenwaka to the general public. 

The Chairman stated emphatically that the State Civil Service Commission and the Anambra State Government are not carrying out any recruitment exercise for now. 

According to him, the recently reconstituted Anambra State Civil Service Commission is neither aware of any recruitment arrangement nor involved in job advertisement currently circulating in the social Media credited to a faceless group.

He further said that the Commission is currently engaged in preparations that will make any intended recruitment exercise seamless and successful.

The Chairman, Mr. Ezenwaka advised the public to disregard this fake publication in its entirety.
