Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has been sworn in today as the sixth substantive governor of Anambra State.
Prof. Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Hon. Justice Onochie Anyachebelu at the Government House, Awka.
The venue was restricted to only invited guests; some of whom were the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Uche Okafor, a member representing Anambra Central at the National Assembly, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, religious leaders, Prof. Pat Utomi.
In his speech, Gov. Soludo promised to work hard with his Deputy so as to make the state proud.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of security agents who lost their lives during the campaign period and promised to take care of the deceased families.
“I will work eight hours today because we are ready to work; we will go to Okpoko, Idemili area, and other communities to ascertain the level of commitment to providing a safe environment for them.
“I will ensure that every kobo of your tax money will be judicially accounted for and no fun-fair in our administration.
“I will use the resources to build hospitals in Okpoko and invest in security so that our officers will fight crimes effectively.
“We will not celebrate until our youths are fully engaged, and our education consolidated. We are committed to making the state a livable and prosperous Anambra.
He said that they would partner with the federal government to promote the exportation of Anambra-made products.
He further said that he has suspended revenue collection and agents and no one should harass anybody over tax.
Inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Nigeria Police Force formed part of the event. (MOI)
