Obeledu (Anaocha LGA), Aug.12, 2020 (MOI) Former Senator, who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh has handed over a Vocational Training Centre that he bankrolled for Obeledu community, Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA).
A former Chairman, Anaocha LGA, Mr Ikeobi Ejiofor said that Sen. Umeh had earlier sponsored the construction of a borehole and now a Vocational Centre for the town.
``We are grateful to him for attracting this project for the sake of training youths in this community.’’
The project, according to him, will help in the training and build of the future of Obeledu youths.
``The youths will acquire skills in vocations like shoemaking, tailoring, perfume and furniture making.”
According to Mr Ejiofor, the centre is among the 28 projects attracted by Sen. Umeh in 2019 for communities in Anambra Central during his 17 months as their representative.
The Centre, which had been handed over to Obeledu Community comprised four training halls, two offices, mini library, a hall, toilets and a reception room.
On the value of the Project to Obeledu Community, the President-General, Obeledu, Mr Polycarp Anochie, said the community had been training the youths on vocations at the Obosi Centre.
``Now with the new centre, Obeledu youths will now be trained in their home centre; more youths will willingly acquire the vocational skills since the facility is here in their town.”
A youth from the town, Mr Kenneth Obelenwa, while reacting to the project, said he would avail himself of the opportunity to get trained since his parents could not afford to fund his university education. (MOI)
