Awka, May 11, 2021 (MOI) Anambra State Government has commenced official registration of Airport Taxis to operate at the International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri.
The registration is at the Ministry of Transport, Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
This has announced by a member representing Anambra West in the State House of Assembly and also the Committee Chairman on Transport, Mr Patrick Udeoba.
Mr Udeoba said Gov. Willie Obiano had written his name in gold having completed the airport.
Udeoba said that the airport would fast-track development, especially within Anambra East and West, noting that many unemployed youths would gain employment from the operation of the airport.
He stressed that among other development measures, the airport would increase the revenue base of the state, making Anambra self-sufficient, without depending on oil revenues, especially now oil was going drying up.
“The airport is highly necessary because we are businessmen; it will reduce the cost of shipping goods from Lagos and other places into Anambra. Traders indeed are happy about it.
“Transporters will equally benefit; it is also an employment boost. All sectors of life will benefit, including middle and low level workers like cleaners and others.
“Our community has also benefited a lot from this administration in various areas, roads, appointments and others.
“Gov. Obiano built two bridges that connected different towns in my area.
“So, I urge all and sundry to support the Governor for more development dividends in the state,’’ Udeoba said. (MOI)
