Awka, Nov. 19, 2020 (MOI) Proprietor of Nnewi United FC, Gabriel Chukwuma, has pledged to offer support services to the new management board of Nigeria National League (NNL) to take the board to the desired level.

“The board is targeting to raise N500 million to execute the league, source title sponsorship and technical assistance to ensure a hitch-free league season.’’

Receiving a delegation of the NNL board led by its Chief Executive Officer, Sajo Mohammed on a courtesy visit at his country home, Nnewi, he promised to assist the management board to succeed in its assignment.

Chukwuma, founder of the defunct Gabros International FC, added that he was driven by passion to invest hugely in football as part of his contribution toward developing talented footballers to earn decent living.

“I have single-handedly sponsored a football club for 22 years, a feat nobody has achieved in football in Nigeria.

“I regard myself as the highest individual investor in football team management in Nigeria so far.

“When I was running Gabros FC, I was going for the best players and that was why at a point, six of my players featured in the Super Eagles squad.’’

While pledging to support the board and its Chairman, Sen. Obinna Ogba, he assured him of his readiness to deploy his vast experience and connections to promote the league.

He, however, noted that it was regrettable that current football administrators across the country have failed to accord him honour in view of his contributions toward changing the face of football in the country.

Ogba affirmed that the new management board would add value to the system.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of NNL, Mohammed, had pleaded for his assistance to grow the league to the expected standards in terms of sponsorship drive, funding and technical support services.

He urged Chukwuma to use his experience in football management to nurture them on the right track to enable them to achieve the desired result.

The CEO was accompanied by Emmanuel Adesanya, Chief Operating officer; Adeyinka Adewale, Chief Accountant; and Nicholas Akujiobi, Administrative Assistant. (MOI)
