Amawbia, June 12, 2021 (MOI) Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr Simeon Onyemaechi as commended some good indigenes of Amawbia for enrolling not fewer than 100 less privileged into medical insurance through an Adoption model.
Dr Onyemaechi said that the gesture showed the magnitude of love that existed within the community.
“It also show that men and women of the community remember the less privileged families in their midst; it is the best gift that one can offer another at this time.’’
The Executive Secretary said this during an enrollment exercise at Amawbia Town Hall, Awka South Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State.
He said that ASHIA’s Adoption Model package was created in a bid to carry along all categories of people resident in the state.
“This is an opportunity for wealthy citizens of Anambra to enroll people from their communities into the scheme.’’
During the exercise, Dr Onyemaechi who is also Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, also praised the wife of the Igwe, Lolo Ugoeze through whose initiative, the goal was actualised.
Mrs Rita Odumodu, one of the Women Leaders, hailed the Anambra State Government for establishing ASHIA, as the scheme had saved many souls, especially the less privileged across the state.
Mrs Rita said: “ it was the Igwes wife, lolo Ugoeze that brought the idea, organised the women who went to many prominent Amawbia indigenes for support, it was this collective support that was used in paying the premium of these 100 persons registered
She, then, said that the criteria for the selection of the people were set by the leaders of each of the six villages in the town
“They identified and compiled the names of the old and the less privileged among them.’’
Mrs Grace Onwuzulu, one of the beneficiaries expressed happiness at all the people that made it possible for her to be among the beneficiaries of this health insurance.
She prayed to God for blessings on them. Mr Okoro Kanayo, one of the beneficiaries of the scheme, praised the good people of Amawbia for this privilege accorded him, (MOI)
