Obosi (Idemili North LGA). May 7, 2021 (MOI) The Public Relations Officer of Anambra Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the killing of two police officers and torching of the Obosi Divisional Headquarters says normalcy has been restored to the area.
According to him, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Christopher Adetokumbo Owolabi, who barely assumed duties 24 hours before the incident had since vowed to bring to book, the culprits.
He was said to have expressed his sympathy with the victims and their families, assuring them of justice in the end.
President-General of Obosi town, Mr Ikechukwu Okolo, in a telephone interview also said he had been briefed of the dastardly acts by unknown gunmen.
According to him no fewer than 50 heavily armed men laid siege at the station before unleashing the attack.
It was gathered that policemen had gallantly fought to repel the attackers, before the two policemen unfortunately paid the supreme price.
The assailants had also freed all detainees in the cell before razing the station. It was gathered also that the victims were killed inside a non-functional filling station close to the station when the murdered officers were trying to repeal the attack. (MOI)
