Akpo (Aguata LGA), March 3, 2021 (MOI) Rev. Fr. Ebuka Nnadi has enjoined Christians to offer prayer sacrifices for a better Nigeria, especially this Lenten season.
He made the call in a homily on the 2nd Sunday in Lent at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Akpo, Aguata Local Government Area (LGA).
The cleric who is on a visit to the Church said: “sacrifice over the years past has proved to be blessings to those that sacrificed.
“It attracts God’s love to mankind; God delights in sacrifice offered in obedience to his directives.
“It is easy to say, I do not have anything to sacrifice, yet you can pray.
“Prayer is the best sacrifice to offer to God, it does not cost money, only subdue your flesh.
“Fast and eschew your worldliness. Deny yourself sleep and other pleasures of this life.
“Present Nigeria and its insecurity problems to God, in season and out of season.
“Tell God something about COVID-19 pandemic that is making our lives uncomfortable; devote time for prayers, fasting and meditation for Nigeria so that we will be having a better country.’’
The cleric added that the Nov. 6, Anambra State gubernatorial election and electioneering was fast approaching, urging all, “start now to pray for peaceful elections; pray against disturbances by thugs so as to prevent the shedding of innocent blood.
“Let there be election and not selection.’’ (MOI)
