Nkpor, Feb. 13, 2021 (MOI) Three persons have been murdered following an attack by gunmen after the inauguration of Nkpor Community Taskforce at the Civic Centre, Eke Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The three are 45-year-old Bongo Muoghalu of Umuoji, Izuchukwu Idemili, 32 and Chidi Oforma, 31 both of Nkpor.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Feb. 10, when two unknown boys drove in a black unregistered Mercedes `V Boot’ and opened fire on a crowd shortly after the inauguration of Nkpor Community Taskforce on COVID-19 enforcement.
Confirming the incident, Police spokesman Mr Haruna Muhammed said the case was currently under investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to him efforts are being intensified to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous act in order to bring them to justice.
He said the bodies of the three victims have since been deposited at Crown Hospital Mortuary on the Nkpor-Umuoji road while two expended ammunition of 7.62mm were recovered at the scene as exhibits.
It was gathered that one of the victims, Moughalu was related to husband of a female journalist in the state and was preparing for his mother’s funeral, scheduled for March 12 before the unfortunate incident.
No one or group has claimed responsibility for the dastardly act or motives. (MOI)
