Awka, July 7, 2021 (MOI) The newly posted Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Mr Vincent Ogu, has embarked on a familiarisation tour of sister security agencies in the state.
The tour is a way of familiarising himself with other Security Service Commanders in Anambra.
The Spokesperson of the organisation, Mr Okadigbo Edwin said Mr Ogu who assumed duties in June, commenced his tour on July 5, with a visit to the State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Malam Mohammed Misbahu Idris at the Command’s Headquarters, Awka.
Addressing the State Commandant, Mr Ogu explained that the purpose of the visit was to familiarise and renew the existing relationship between the NSCDC and the NDLEA in the state.
He stressed the need for both agencies to collaborate in the fight against drug abuse in a bid to achieve a drug-free Anambra State.
Ogu said that the Corps was always open to liaise with NDLEA in the provision of operational support and intelligence gathering to sustain the tempo in order to stem the tide of illegal use of drugs and psychotropic substances in the state.
In his response, the NDLEA Commander, Malam Idris, while welcoming Mr Ogu to Anambra, said the need for more collaboration between the NDLEA and the NSCDC was very important to mop up all crime related issues in the state.
According to him, crimes are generally triggered by consumption of illicit drugs.
Idris, thereafter, pledged his commitment toward continuously synergising with the NSCDC in seeing an end to this social menace.
Other issues bordering on synergy and security challenges in the state were extensively discussed. The agencies resolved to work harmoniously in order to promote safety and security of Ndi Anambra and residents alike. (MOI)
