Awka, May 9, 2021 (MOI) Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State chapter, Ms Frankly Onyekachi has called for professionalism among Women Journalists in Anambra. 

Ms Onyekachi said this in a statement released during the celebration of the 2021 Press Freedom Day in Awka. 

The statement praised the women journalists for their dedication to duty and commitment toward ensuring that the public was fed with accurate and timely information on events as they unfold. 

“This is in spite of the ravaging effects of Coronavirus pandemic that has posed serious threats to the World.’’ 

The theme for this year’s event: “Information As A Public Good’’,  NAWOJ Anambra, then, enjoined all women journalists in the state to continue to carry out their duties as watchdogs of the society without bearing in mind the ethics of the profession. 

According to the statement, being in an election year in the state, the association calls on its members to eschew fake news and unverified reports so as not to cause disharmony or chaos.  It commended the Anambra State Government for continued cooperation with the organisation while soliciting for more support.
