Awka, March 5, 2021 (MOI) A middle aged man, Kingsley Igwe has been alleged to have murdered his wife, Onyinye Obi, at Dueze Street Otigba, at the 3-3 Area of Onitsha in Anambra.
Mr Igwe, 35, who hailed from Nise, Awka South Local Government Area (LGA) and resident at Dueze Street, Otigba in the 3-3 Area of the commercial city of Onitsha along with his deceased, Mrs Obi aged 31.
The Anambra State Police Public Relation Officer, CSP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the murder noted that Mr Igwe was arrested at about 4.am, shortly afterward by Police operatives attached to the 3-3 Police Station.
According to him, the suspect allegedly ran amok in circumstances yet to be ascertained and attacked his wife, Onyinye Obi ‘f’, 31 with a kitchen knife, inflicting multiple injuries all over her body.
Meanwhile, police detectives visited the scene and rushed the victim to nearby Apex Hospital for medical attention, where she was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
Her remains had since been deposited at the Hospital’s Morgue for autopsy, while the knife used in perpetrating the act had since been recovered and registered as exhibit. The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has directed the DPO to transfer the case to State’s CID, Awka, for investigation in order to unravel the actual cause of the incident. (MOI)
