Awka, Jan. 22, 2021 (MOI) Anambra State Ministry of Health has organised a one-day training for stakeholders, master trainers and health workers in the state on Family Planning Natural Procreative Technology (NaProTECHNOLOGY).

NaProTECHNOLOGY is a women’s health science that monitors and maintains a woman’s reproductive and gynecological health; it provides medical and surgical treatments that cooperate completely with the reproductive system.

The training was held at the Ministry of Health Conference Hall, Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala said the State Government was committed to ensuring that Ndi Anambra would continue to enjoy quality healthcare in the state. 

Dr Okpala urged the participants to take the workshop very seriously while noting that natural family planning was good, safe and medically acceptable.

Mr Linus Nwankwo, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, who represented the commissioner, said that the government was determined to offer the residents of the state the best healthcare services at all times.

Director, Public Health/Disease Control, Dr Uchechukwu Onyejimbe, described the workshop as timely and commendable.

Dr Onyejimbe said it would help many families to plan well and encourage the participants to ensure that the message gathered at the workshop would reach the grassroots.

Focal person for the programme, Mrs Stella Ekweozor, a Deputy Director, Nursing, noted that Anambra was the first state in Nigeria to roll out natural Family Planning.

According to Mrs Ekweozor, the NaProTECHNOLOGY is modern and scientific, and has a complete set of natural family planning.

“We engaged an expert who is certified internationally and also a  Technology Medical Consultant, Dr Emmanuel Okechukwu to train our people and hopefully the objectives will be achieved,’’ she said. 

A public health physician and consultant, Dr Emmanuel Okechukwu delivered lectures on fertility awareness. The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu was represented at the training by Dr Nnamdi Uliagbafusi. (MOI)
