Awka, July 7, 2021 (MOI) Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Prof Theresa Obiekezie, has been bestowed with the honour of Excellence in Administration by the Man O’ War for her outstanding performance since assumption of office.
The award was conferred on her when a delegation of the organisation led by its State Commander, Ambassador Nkem Amene, paid a courtesy visit at her office.
During the ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Louisa Ezeanya, was also bestowed with an award for her supportive role in piloting the affairs of the ministry.
The State Commander, Man O’ War Nigeria, Amene, said they considered it proper to recognise the able way she had been carrying all youth organisations along.
“Having seen the good work and achievements of our amiable Commissioner, we deem it fit to appreciate her with this token of recognition for meritorious services.
“I must sincerely appreciate her for giving us motherly advice and guiding us on how to really participate and benefit from the government as voluntary youth organisation. A seed we can attest to, is gradually yielding result,’’ Amene said.
The state commander used the occasion to list its contributions in the areas of training of Corp members, traffic control and training of the State Vigilance Groups.
She, then, drew the attention of the Commissioner to some of the challenges militating against smooth operations of the organisation, including mobility, accommodation as well as support services.
Responding, the Commissioner Prof. Obiekezie, acknowledged that the organisation had been playing vital roles in manpower development and training of youth bodies.
While expressing gratitude to the organisation for the recognition, she assured of government’s commitment in assisting various youth-based organisations to lessen their challenges. She hailed the leadership qualities of the state commander of the organisation, urging her to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far under her watch. (MOI)
