Onitsha, March 25, 2021 (MOI) Anambra State Government has paid out N18 million in cash to families of security personnel, who lost their lives over the last six months and those recently murdered in active duty.

The hoodlums attacked the security personnel (Police, Navy and Correctional Services) and carted away their weapons; a President-General, Omor, Mr Emma Onwuachi was also murdered after being kidnapped.

The families of deceased security personnel, 18 in number received, N1 million each as compensation.

The deceased Police Officers are ASP Iyamaba Oden, ASP Andrew Clement, INSP Ibrahim Musa, INSP Matthew Atuluku, INSP Uche Ali, INSP Musa Modu, INSP Micheal Obidimalu, INSP Eric Agbabiaka, SGT Abu Sule, SGT Pwano Bekodi and WPC Miracle Nwobodo.

The Naval personnel officers include O/S Y. Abubakar, O/S M Umah, O/S F. Yusuf, and O/S B. Ibrahim.

The personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service are AIC Ebuka Christian Okoli, and CCA Emmanuel Chikwelu Nwune.

Presenting the cash at the Governor’s Lodge, Onitsha, Gov. Willie Obiano warned that further attempt at attacking security personnel would be a calamity.

Gov. Obiano, who said his government had strengthened security added; “the state is ready for criminals’’.

The Governor reassured of close tight security, enjoining the people to go about their businesses and continue to enjoy peace and security.

While condoling with the family of the deceased, the Governor noted that those personnel put their lives down for the good of the state and the nation that they served.

He urged them to take solace in God, as the state would the bring culprits to book.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas assured that with collaborative effort of the state government, his command would harness every measure to apprehend the hoodlums.

He expressed sympathy with the family of the deceased, praying to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. A member of family of one of the deceased, Ngozi Nwobodo commended Gov. Obiano for his magnanimity, praying to God to continue to protect him. (MOI)
