Awka, March 24, 2021 (MOI) Anambra Police Command has reacted to a recent fire outbreak in a bungalow on Odogwu Awka Street, Okpuno Area of Awka.
The command said in a statement that no life was lost at the time of the report, as the Fire Service was contacted and responded in good time to put out the fire.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the command had since commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident, as well as the level of damages recorded.
He added that some persons who sustained various degrees of injuries were evacuated to nearby hospitals for treatment.
“The fire started at about 7:30pm on March 22 in the bungalow on Odogwu Awka Street — old INEC Road, Okpuno, Awka.
“The operatives promptly rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area in order to prevent looting and further catastrophe.
“The Anambra Police Commissioner, Mr Bala Kuryas had ordered an investigation to unravel the cause of the fire as well as to certain the level of damages. “He enjoined citizens of Anambra to heed personal and domestic safety within and outside their homes. (MOI)
