Awka, March 17, 2021 (MOI) The Anambra State Head of Service, Barr. Harry Udu has praised Gov. Willie Obiano on his many achievements within the Last seven years as governor of Anambra State.
Udu made the commendation on March 16 in his office at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka while interacting with an Information Officer on the achievements of the government in the seven years in office so far.
Udu while looking at those years, being the inception into office of Willie Obiano administration considered all a gigantic developmental strides.
Udu who described these years as the most challenging, praised the tenacity of the governor, who did not allow the economic difficulties to deter him from achieving his visions and dreams for the state.
He, on behalf of himself, the College of Permanent Secretaries, and the entire Public Service of the state, thanked the award-winning, innovative, technology-driven ‘alert’ Governor for all he had done for workers in the state.
“The governor’s record of achievements in the technology, transportation, Energy, security, social infrastructure, commerce, health and education sectors of the state’s economy have today remained a reference point in bench-marking good governance in Nigeria.
“It is no longer news that Anambra under the leadership of Obiano has become a preferred destination for both foreign and local investors thereby making the state a hub for business, attracting billions of dollars in direct investments. Anambra is economically stable and healthy.
“Honestly, Anambra has grown and recorded milestones under the watch of Gov. Obiano. The state has been able to come from a catch up position behind other states to take the frontline in every aspect of human and infrastructure development.
“The state is no longer a ridicule; no thanks to these seven short years of resolute and focused leadership,’’ noted the HOS.
Udu observed that he admired the governor’s humane disposition toward issues affecting the workers, advising his detractors who might wish to turn simple truths in order to politicise genuine efforts, to desist from such actions that could only form clogs on the wheel of collective progress.
Barr Udu, then, listed some achievements of the governor within the public service sector to include;
upward review of workers’ salaries, regular payment of salaries, pension’s, gratuities and associated allowances and provision of four public servants transit buses to ease the transportation costs on public servants.
The civil boss also noted the provision of utility vehicles for the three labour unions in the state and the continued distribution of bags of rice to public servants at every Christmas.
Udu also said that he had continued to bankroll the training and capacity-building for public servants as well as the structured recruitment and upgrade of the health sector.
“There is the recapitalisation of Ndiolu Microfinance Bank, financial assistance to workers injured in the line of duty as well as the creation of state health insurance scheme that benefits workers and their dependants.
Udu hinted at the compassionate recruitment of spouses of deceased and physically challenged pensioners; the recruitment of physically challenged graduates in the state.
He also mentioned the recruitment of critically needed teachers; recent increase in teachers’ salaries and welfare packages and the
renovation of the state Secretariat as well as other government offices across the state.
“Akpokuodike, we are proud to be associated with your achievements,’’ Udu said.
He, then, enjoined Ndi Anambra to join in celebrating with our amiable Governor Obiano as we all mark the seven memorable years of excellent leadership in the state. (MOI)
