Neni (Anaocha LGA), March 17, 2021 (MOI) Teachers in Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA) have been urged to be role models to their pupils.

The sensitisation was conducted in a one-day orientation programme organised by Anaocha Local Government Education Authority for newly appointed head teachers, newly recruited and transferred teachers.

Member representing Anaocha II Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Ejike Okechukwu described teaching as a noble profession, noting that administrators and world leaders were made by teachers.

Mr Okechukwu, also a member of House Committee on Basic Education explained that technological and medical breakthrough in the world today were accomplished by men and women tutored by teachers.

He called on the teachers to see themselves as moulders of character and good morals while educating the pupils, as such orientation would instil good behaviours in them.

Education Secretary Anaocha LGA, Chief Emeka Anaetoh urged the teachers to be ambassadors of the profession by being dedicated and selfless in their duties.

In a paper delivered by Chief Anaetoh on “Head teachers as Bridge Builders’’, he listed the importance of teachers, responsibilities and qualities of good teachers as well as code of conduct for head teachers.

Education Secretary, Onitsha South LGA, Dr Kay Chukwura described teachers, especially nursery and primary schools, as guiding lamps to pupils.

Dr Chukwurah enjoined the teachers to help the pupils in career building, attentiveness and communication.

Other dignitaries at the event include Transitional Committee Chairman Anaocha LGA, Mr Patrick Onyedum represented by Mr Ikechukwu Nwogu, ASUBEB Board member Anaocha LGA, Lady Amaka Edewo and Chairman Anaocha LGA Chapter of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Dr Ben Onugbolu.

Also in attendance was Supervising Counselor for Education Anaocha LGA, Mr Tochukwu Ubaezuonu.

The event was held at the LG Headquarters, Neni. (MOI)
