Awka, Dec. 5, 2020 (MOI) The State Government has cautioned market leaders on the need to continue to maintain all the COVID-19 rules in markets.

“This is because the ravaging virus is about to hit the country for a second time,’’ the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, said during a meeting with the market leaders in Awka.

He lamented the non compliance of some businessmen and women with COVID-19 pandemic protocols as outlined by the Government.

“People need to be reminded again that COVID-19 is still with us. There is the need more than ever before for us all to observe all the COVID-19 rules, especially in markets, where goods and services are exchanged on a daily basis.’’

Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala while praising the marketers for their compliance during the outbreak of the virus, urged them never to relent in doing what was right as Government was ever ready to come to their aid.

He admonishes them to report to any medical personnel, if they feel unwell and avoid taking unnecessary drugs that might complicate their health condition. The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr Uche Okafor enjoined the leaders to ensure that the rules and protocols of COVID-19 would be enforced in the markets, as the festive period approached.
