Awka, Dec. 2, 2020 (MOI) Gov. Willie Obiano says he has not been receiving his salaries since becoming governor in Anambra State in 2014.
Gov. Obiano has continued to make that sacrifice monthly toward improved welfare of Anambra State workers, so as to ensure they could receive every allowance due to them.
The Governor emphasised this while addressing Anambra State workers at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
Gov Obiano noted that in spite of the present economic challenges in the country, his administration had to maintain prompt payment of salaries and other allowances as well as payment of pensions and gratuity.
He noted that he would embark on construction and reconstruction of more economic roads as soon as the economy improved.
Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Harry Udu noted that Gov. Obiano had sustained improvements in the welfare of workers in the state especially, in the area like prompt payment of salaries, release of training and re-training of workers.
“Despite the scourge and economic difficulties imposed by COVID-19 pandemic, salary alerts have been coming.’’
The Government has maintained prompt payment of salaries on every 25th of every month.
All state workers will as usual receive a bag of rice each for the yuletide season. This is a gesture that the Governor has made this an annual ritual since inception of the administration. (MOI)
