Awka, Dec. 11, 2020 (MOI) Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA) has held its 2020 end of year/send off party.
The event, which featured the launch of ASPHCDA Magazine and Minimum Service Package, was used as a medium to present gifts/prizes to retired and deserving staff members of the Agency was held in Awka.
Board Chairman, ASPHCDA, Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu emphasised the importance of “Primary Healthcare under One Roof (PHCUOR)” programme of the Federal Government.
He noted that PHCUOR had to do with the usefulness of primary healthcare made possible by the State Healthcare Agency, the bedrock of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the states.
“This is in order to ensure effective strengthening of the healthcare system and universal health coverage,’’ he said.
Executive Secretary, ASPHCDA, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu noted that everything happening at PHCs were all driven by PHC Directors of the 21 Local Government Health Authorities (LGHAs) of the state as they were key to grassroots service delivery.
She expressed gratitude to God for the end of year/send off party, which brought all retired staff members of the agency together to be celebrated.
“We thank our Board as it has been so dedicated in its efforts at moving the agency forward.’’
Dr Ezenyimulu, then, gave a brief history of the agency and how it had been coordinating primary healthcare activities in the state, in keeping with the PHCUOR policy of the FG.
She thanked Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, who she described as one of the strongest forces driving the state’s health sector.
“The road has not been easy, but we are grateful to God for where we are today as the primary healthcare in the state is moving forward.”
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Printing and Newspaper Company, producers of “National Light Newspapers’’, Mr Chuka Nnabuife commended the agency for its giant strides in healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
He assured that his organisation would be promoting the Agency.
A retired staff member of the Agency, Dr Kanayo Onalu in a vote of thanks, thanked the Board and management of ASPHCDA for being thoughtful enough to remember them. He prayed to God to lift the Agency from strength to strength. (MOI)
