Enugu, Nov. 20, 2020 (MOI) No fewer than 29 candidates have been admitted into the Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM), Nigeria, an Order in the Catholic Church.
One of the candidates so admitted is a member representing Ihiala1 constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Chidi Udemmadu and wife.
Others include Ferdinand Odinaka Ikwueme and Christian Udegbunam Madichie.
The investiture, which took place during a Holy Mass at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Independence Layout, Enugu, attracted many high profile personalities in the Order from across the country.
In a homily during the investiture, Rev. Fr. George Nze-Mmuoba urged the candidates to guard and protect the interest of the Catholic Church and foster a Catholic Conscience and Outlook in their respective communities.
He enjoined them to live perfect Christian life among members and sustain the work of evangelisation with a view to gaining more converts into the Church.
Fr. Nze-Mmuoba, then, urged them to use their rich talents in serving in the Lord’s vineyard and become role models in winning more souls for Christ.
The Worthy Metropolitan Grand Knight of Onitsha Metropolitan Council, Sir Boniface Orakwe, enjoined them to uphold integrity and righteousness in seeking the face of God.
Sir Orakwe also admonished them to work harmoniously with their various religious and societal leaders in ensuring lasting peace and unity in the Church and the society at large.
The Order was established in Nigeria on June 14, 1953 by late Fr. Abraham Anselm Isidahomen Ojefua; a Priest and Monk from Illah in present day Delta State; it was modeled after the Sacred Order of Catholic Knighthood.
Only practicing Catholic men and their wives are admitted into the Order, as the membership spans all cadres of professions.
The Order performs various charitable works to members of the public — Christians and non-Christians alike, including visitation to hospitals, orphanages, old people’s homes, the disabled and the prisons.
Members, individually and collectively also render diverse support to religious houses such as building of Churches and other religious projects in addition to fraternities within the order.
The Order counts on members, who diligently use their treasures, time, talents, education, social position to fight a good cause for the greater glory of God, the Church, mankind and the progress of the country.
The newly admitted knights took an oath of humility and honesty in serving God and humanity. (MOI)
