Fegge, (Onitsha South LGA), May 28, 2018 (MOI) No fewer than 62 of the 100 students awarded scholarships by a lawmaker from Onitsha, received their cheques for their third term school fees.

Mr Patrick Aniunoh, member representing Onitsha 1 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, who awarded the scholarships officially gave out the cheques to benefitting students.

He told members of the media while handing over the cheques that the remaining 38 would soon receive theirs.

He urged parents of the students to use the money for the purpose it was meant.

``My aim in awarding the scholarships is to serve as a patriotic duty to the children in my constituency in order to motivate them to take their studies seriously,’’ Aniuno said.

He pledged to continue the award while still representing constituency.

The Chairman Mr Aniunoh Scholarship Board, Mr Sunny Obiegbu, also an Educationist said that 600 students from JSS 3 and SS3 sat for the examination for the awards, out of which 100 emerged as winners.

He expressed his joy at what Aniunoh started, which he observed, nobody had done in the constituency.                                                                 

Mr Jude Duru and Mrs Uzoamaka Ezeamama, parents of two beneficiaries expressed their joy at the award of scholarships.

Duru thanked Aniunoh for his kind gesture while Ezeamama prayed God to bless him. (MOI)
