Awka, May 18, 2018 (MOI) The Ministerial Committee, constituted for launch of 2018 farming season has inspected the farming site at Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA).

During courtesy call to the Chairman of Ogbaru LGA, Mr Arinzechukwu Awogu and the Traditional Ruler of Atani, Igwe Azuka, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Afam Mbanefo officially informed them that Atani was chosen to host the event.

The commissioner who was represented by the Deputy Director, Agriculture, Mr B.C Nweke said that the Central Primary School, Atani would be the primary base.

The council chairman expressed his happiness at the privilege given to his LGA, stressing, ``Ogbaru farmers are industrious’’.

Awogu, who accompanied the committee to the site for proposed vegetable production, pleaded that the farming opportunity be extended to other towns in the area.

The Igwe Azuka, then, commended Gov. Willie Obiano and the Commissioner for Agriculture for their effort in moving agriculture forward in the state.

Igwe Azuka, however, notified the committee that Atani engaged in seasonal farming, which he would want the ministry to assist to develop on a large scale.

He added that such development could lead to possible export to Europe and other areas of the world. (MOI)
