LG BOSS URGES PARENTS TO ENGAGE YOUTHS IN EDUCATION, SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
By Uzo Ugwunze
Ojoto, May 29, 2018 (MOI) Transition Committee Chairman, Idemili South Local Government Area (LGA), Mr Don Unachukwu has initiated plans to build another skills acquisition centre in the area.
This can motivate the youths to be self-reliant and useful to society.
Unachukwu said this during May 27, 2018 Children’s Day celebration at the council’s headquarters, Ojoto.
He said that children need proper guidance to stop them from indulging in anti-social vices.
``Every child is entitled to education and should be engaged in skills acquisition,’’ Unachukwu said.
The chairman noted that two skills acquisition centres had been on ground at Oba and Obofia, Ojoto.
He, then, added that another one would be cited at Awka-Etiti as an avenue for creating safe space for children to develop their potential.
``Discipline and training are two ingredients in lives of children. Leaders and parents should ensure security of their children.
``Our children represent our future as a nation. As responsible leaders and parents, we should create opportunities for our children to explore and discover their potential,’’ Unachukwu noted.
He commended Gov. Obiano for his investments in lives of the children by equipping schools, promptly paying salaries of teachers and establishing skills acquisition centres.
However, the Traditional Ruler of Ojoto, Idemili South LGA, Igwe Gerald Mbamelu commended Obiano for his many development strides in the state and prayed God to bless the children.
The event featured a march past by
children drawn from public and private schools, cultural dances and gift
presentation to winners. (MOI)
