Umueri (Anambra East LGA), Aug. 31, 2018 (MOI) Umueri Community displayed the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Igbo during 2nd ``Iwa ji ceremony’’ of its Traditional Ruler, Igwe Benneth Emeka.

The royal father spoke of the place of yam as the `king of the crops’.

``There is need for the promotion of the positive culture of the Igbos like celebrating the new yam; and dropping the negative cultures that are not good to the conscience and ethical values.’’

Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mrs Vera Okonkwo, commended Igwe Emeka on the celebration of the new yam.

Mrs Okonkwo urged that the positive cultures of the Igbos be promoted, and enjoined the youths, especially girls to shun negative tendencies as indecent dressing and other vices.

Anambra State Controller of Immigration, Mrs Miriam Audu, felicitated with Igwe Emeka and emphasised the imperatives of promoting good cultural values. (MOI)
