By Michael Ezenwata : Traditional rulers in the state have expressed concern over the hiccups surrounding the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise in the state.

Some of them who spoke to the press at the government house Awka want the Independent National Electrical Commission INEC to decentralize the exercise to the ward level.

According to the traditional ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Dr. Cyril Enweze, INEC should make enough provisions for vehicles, the personnel and machines to ensure the smooth running of the exercise.

Igwe Enweze enjoined the citizenry and all security agencies to be vigilante to ensure that the electorate are not shortchanged in the electoral process.

On his part, the traditional ruler of Umuenwelum Anam in Anambra west local government area, Igwe Okeke Michael Okoye lamented that one data capturing machine for the entire local government area is not enough coupled with the fact that the local government headquarters situated at Nzam is far for some electorate to register.

Contributing, the traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam in Anambra East local government area, Igwe George Ekwealor admitted that registration is going on in Otuocha with three machines being used but the process is slow as more machines should be distributed to the wards to make the process easier for some disadvantaged persons.

In their separate reactions, the traditional ruler of Umumbo in Ayamelum local government area, Igwe Simeon Chidubem, his Ugbenu counterpart in Awka North local government area, Igwe Lawrence Egwuonwu, and his Awka south counterpart Igwe Timothy Ezenwaka are of the opinion that the exercise in Anaku, Achalla and Amawbia are not satisfactory and should therefore be facilitated by INEC.
