03. Obiano lays foundation for Ndiokpaleke Health Centre Project

By John Ndu

Governor Willie Obiano has laid the foundation for the construction of a health centre in Ndiokpaleke, Orumba South Local Government Area. The health centre project is in line with the initiative of the Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano to run an all inclusive government by allowing the 179 communities in the state to decide and choose a tangible project within the sum of N20 million which the state government would execute for them.

Performing the ground breaking ceremony, Governor Obiano commended the people of Ndiokpaleke for choosing a health centre which he said would help bring solution to their health challenges and drastically reduce the dependence on health facilities in neighboring towns especially in cases of emergency.

The Governor expressed dismay over the condition of roads in the community and ordered the commencement of palliative works with 4 culverts on the access road leading into the town. He also promised to ensure that a secondary school is built in the community to stop school pupils in the area from trekking to other communities in the area to gain secondary education.

The Governor promised to equip the health centers with modern health facilities and qualified doctors, nurses and other health workers when completed.

In his address, the President General of Ndiokpaleke, Hon Ernest Igboanugo expressed gratitude to the Governor for approving the health centre for his community hoping that the centre when completed would give people of the community respite, especially  pregnant mothers who sometimes give birth or deliver on the road when they are taking them to neighbouring communities.

Mr Igboanugo pleaded with the state government to intervene in roads leading to the community especially the Ndiokpaleke – Ndiokolo-Ogborji link roads as that would open up development and enhance response on cases of emergency on health issues.

In his remarks, the member representing Orumba North in the State House of Assembly, Hon Romanus Obi expressed happiness at the turn of events saying the health centre project and the roads when constructed would strengthen the political will of the community to effectively support APGA in the next election.
