By Nwankwo Chinyere : Anambra government has concluded the arrangement to tackle the gully erosion damaging the Nkpor flyover and Omaba phase 2 in Onitsha north and Idemili north local government area of the state.
The executive secretary of Anambra state Emergency management agency (SEMA) chief Paul Odenigbo disclosed this while handing over relief materials worth of millions of naira to the victims of the gully erosion at Omaba phase 2. Chief Odenigbo represented by a director in the agency, Barrister Chudi Onyejekwe said that erosion control as contained in the project should be supervised by the new map and world bank agency. He noted that New map is already assisting the state to control and contend the menace of gully erosion, of the more than four thousand erosion sites in different parts of the state.
Onyejekwe, said that the Obiano administration has signed the Omaba/Obosi erosion sites bid, that very soon the new map and world bank will start work on the site.
In a remark, the member representing Idemili north in the house of assembly chief Tochukwu Megbuanaeze expressed gratitude to Obiano administration for a rapid response to their predicament. Some of the residents of the area, pledged to give a total support to governor Obiano’s second term bid in the forth coming gubernatorial election
The relief materials handed over to the victims include bags of rice, bags of cement, bags of nail, bundles of zinc, mattresses, blankets, buckets among others.
