By John Ndu : The Anambra State Government has commenced construction work on the 7km Ogidi – Umuoji road, in Idemili North local government area of the state.
Inspecting the road project, the governor, Chief Willie Obiano said 2km of the road had already been asphalted while the remaining 4km would be completed before the rainy season.
Governor Obiano also stated that the road with two drainage systems would link various communities in the area even as he hoped that construction work would meet standard specifications.
The governor disclosed that his government would always embark on state roads regardless of the present economic recession.
He urged people of the community to always supervise the road to ensure it was implemented as designed.
In his reaction, the traditional ruler of Ogidi, Igwe Patrick Onyido expressed gratitude to the Governor for undertaking the road project, saying the road in the past had hindered socio economic activities in the community .
Igwe Onyido promised to support the vision of the present administration to achieve viable results.
