By John Ndu : Ogbunike Community, in Oyi local government area of Anambra State experienced an unprecedented event as the wife of the state governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano stormed to commission an ultra-modern CAFE Market Toilet Project.
The visit which recorded jubilation would open windows of opportunities in the community, as it was the first time a wife of a governor visited to commission projects that would impact tremendously in the lives of the people.
The Cafe Market Toilet and a borehole were constructed under her pet project, Caring Family Enhancement initiative (CAFE), and were geared towards improving health standard of living and women dignity in every community in the state.
The projects, among others were targeted at empowering some women and men in the community and would be managed by them for a period of two years.
Those to manage the CAFE Toilet Market Project include Mrs Ukamaka Ikegulu from Ogbunike Ward 1 and Mrs Oby Nwanne, Ogbunike Ward 2, while Mrs Eunice Ojiakor would man the borehole.
Commissioning the projects, the wife of the governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano said the dreams of Governor Obiano administration were to positively transform the state and restore the lost hope through their selfless services to the state.
Chief Mrs Obiano said the State under the present watch had recorded tremendous successes in the Agricultural sector due to his unprecedented policies which had attracted investors, geared towards reviving the sector to be more viable for socio – economic activities and transforming the state.
Mrs Obiano noted that in 3years of Governor Obiano’s administration he had surpassed the State’s 325,000 metric tons of rice per annum consumption capacity with its production capacity of close to 400,000 metric tonnes which was achieved mainly through his government’s partnership with Agro investors.
This according to her had resulted in awarding Governor Obiano as the Best Agricultural Friendly Governor.
Speaking on security, the governor’s wife explained that Governor Obiano recorded huge success due to his heavy investment in provision of state-of-the-art security vehicles and the formation of Joint Task Force which comprises of Nigeria Police, Army, Navy DSS, Civil Defence and other security agencies.
She stressed that the Joint Task Force had been working harmoniously and tediously for the security of the state, clamping down crime and criminality as well as their command and control centers.
Mrs Obiano said the security in the state had attracted heavy investment and opened up various avenues for creation of employment opportunities
The Governor’s wife revealed that through CAFE, over 2500 youths had been trained and empowered in different skills to ensure self-sufficiency and reliance, adding that over 1000 people had benefited from distribution of limbs and clept palate, to enable them have a place of pride in the state.
She said the present government had continued to employ physically challenged graduates in the state and declared free education for all the physically challenged
Osodieme urged Ogbunike community to tap into available opportunities the present government had unveiled, especially on different skill acquisition, and other employment opportunities mapped out to better the lives of the people.
She promised that the community would always enjoy the largesses from Obiano administration, especially on road construction, adding that the asphalting of community roads would soon commence and be completed in a short time.
While urging the people to refrain from social injustice and immorality, Osodieme charged them to be united and uphold integrity and Igbo cultural values to sustain the sacrifices of our national leaders.
Chief Mrs Obiano further explained that the essence of the projects was to ensure hygiene and generate revenue for the development of every communities in the state, charging them to ensure adequate security and surveillance for the sustainability of the projects.
On his part, a former governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Harry Chuma denounced his membership in APC, saying APGA government had displayed commitment in projecting the state to global recognition through its lofty dispensation of ideas in accordance with justice, equity and good conscience.
Comrade Chuma who regretted attacking Governor Obiano administration in the past expressed satisfaction with the level of development the governor had attracted within the past three years, especially the security that had restored peace and serenity which the people have been enjoying.
The Former Governorship aspirant said he was in the dark, but had been revived by Governor Obiano’s chronicle of achievements, which some APGA loyalists had failed to discover.
He urged the people to ensure Governor Obiano’s second term would be actualized to prevent desperate politicians from taking over the state, which according to him would bring Anambra to doom.
Earlier, the Traditional Ruler of Ogbunike, HRM, Chief John Umenyiora commended the wife of the governor for immediate intervention in the leadership crisis in Ogbunike, saying it would restore peace and unity, which would also boost the voting strength in November election.
Reacting, the President General of Ogbunike, Dr Nnamdi Nwadiogbu expressed gratitude to the present administration for giving Ogbunike a place of pride in the government.
Mr Nwadiogbu commended governor’s wife for her benevolence in providing for the indigent people in the state, especially the widows and physically challenged.
While urging her to continue with her God’s call, the PG pleaded to speed up the construction of all the awarded roads in the community, which would further enhance exportation of goods to other neighboring communities and states.
One of the beneficiaries who would manage the projects, Mrs Eunice Ojiakor expressed satisfaction, saying the management of the project was an opportunity for her to be self-reliance.
Mrs Ojiakor said she would be committed and render selfless service to ensure adequate maintenance of hygiene in accordance with specification.
In attendance were dignitaries from all wards in Ogbunike, the traditional ruler and members of his cabinets, all the traders in Ogbunike, political office holders, party loyalists, among others.
The highlight of the event were the commissioning of the projects; a two phase of toilets for males and females and a borehole.
