By Kingsley Ezekwelu : The Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano has continued the inspection of various road projects awarded by his administration to ensure quality work and compliance to establish specification.
The Governor, inspected the pace of work on the 11km Mmiata Anam-Nzam Road in Anambra West Council Area, and the 7.5km road linking Iyiora Anam and the Orient Petroleum facility at Enugu Otu Aguleri in Anamnra East council area.
So far, excavation and sand filling have been achieved on about 5km on the road with major culverts at strategic points to dispel flood.
Addressing the people who thronged him during the visit, Chief Obiano stated that his administration was executing these challenging roads because they led to agrarian communities and remain the only direct link to Kogi States.
He acknowledged that lack of good access road had made transportation of food produce difficult to urban centres and had made farmers record huge loss from poor sales, patronage and storage.
Gov Obiano expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far and promised that if the state government would complete the project in the nearest future.
The governor was excited that the Iyiora bridge has been completed with the best standard. He also expressed satisfaction for the height of the road that has been raised reasonably to ensure that no amount of flooding can submerge it.
He assured the people of Anambra West LGA that the road will be executed according to satisfaction to withstand heavy duty vehicles carrying petroleum products to and fro the Oil facility, urging them to remain supportive of his administration to enable it fully realize its lofty vision for the development of the area.
Mr Victor Jideofor, memebre representing Anambra West Constituency in the State Assembly, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Science & Technology, Prince Chinedu Emeka and Mr Michael Nwofia, chairman Akpokuodike Action Group for continuity in their respective remarsk commended the governor for this kind gesture done to the people of the area and reaffirmed the people’s unalloyed support to the governor.
